Artist Bert Greer Phillips was one of the founding members of the Taos Society of Artists. He painted portraits of members of Taos Pueblo as well as people in the Hispanic community. For this exhibition much successful research was done in order the identify the models for his paintings.

Fragments of the Frontier
A photographic exploration by Ian Markus of the fading culture of ranching in Montana. With imagery created from a 4 x 5” film camera, Ian composites two or more negatives in the darkroom to create ethereal, large-format gelatin silver prints. The resulting ghostly images give a visceral interpretation of the fading cowboy culture that Ian has encountered on the ranches of Montana.

Featuring the artwork of Hopi artist, Mavasta Honyouti who is an award winning carver. This exhibition features 16 carved panels featured in the bilingual (Hopi/English) children’s book published by Honyouti called Coming Home: A Hopi Resistance Story. Honyouti comes from a family of carvers and work by his father, uncle, and brother are on view as well.

Between the Lines
An exhibition that aims to humanize the incarcerated by showcasing 200 pieces of artwork, multimedia pieces, and community events. The show consists of works from the museum’s collection as well as from the Penitentiary of New Mexico Inmate Craftsmanship & Trades Fair, a local prisoner’s rights organization.
