Lucia Lucas made history in 2019 when she portrayed the title character in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with the Tulsa Opera, becoming the first openly trans person to play a leading part on an American operatic stage. This summer she stars in the American premiere of “Lili Elbe,” an opera about one of the first people to undergo gender affirmation surgery almost a century ago.
